Play Time: These eggs are not just for Easter…

With a child who loves to eat and play, I thought it would be fun to combine the two and have a little egg hunt with our afternoon snack.

Here’s what you need:
:: Plastic eggs that pull apart
:: A basket, box or bag to hold the eggs
:: Small and dry snack food of your choice (Cheerios, Trail Mix, etc)

Here’s what to do:
:: Fill 5-6 eggs half full with the snack.
:: Mix the filled eggs with the empty eggs in your basket/box/bag.
:: If your child is older and understands instructions, let them have at it.  If your child is younger and needs a little help, you can show them how one “rattles” and one does not, helping guide them to find the “rattles”.
:: Have fun and applaud your child once they find their snack.

If you have other fun ideas that mix play time with snack time, please feel free to share!

  1. What a cute idea! Recently I stumbled upon another use for easter eggs…for the older child, though. You write an upper-case letter on one end, and a lower case letter on the other (for the whole alphabet) then seperate the parts and put them all in a big bowl.and the kid has to match the upper and lower case egg halves to make a whole. Now if I could only find some eggs this time of year!

    • Kirsten, I LOVE that idea! I’m going to store that away for the future, for sure. Thanks for the idea! As for the eggs, maybe try Oriental Trading Company ( or Party City.

Great idea! Why wait for Easter!! Who is that adorable little girl?
