A Project Started…
One of the features that sold us on our house is the backyard. Not so much the size, but the space…oh the space. Our house backs up to a wash so we have no neighbors directly behind us. We have views of the mountains (or what Arizonans call mountains), sunsets and wildlife.
The house came with a small patch of grass which just wouldn’t do for us CA and WA natives. Yes, I realize we live in the desert, but grass is a must and it certainly makes things cooler in the summer, not to mention less dusty. We began to dream of our new outdoor space and we slowly started tearing out the old grass, borders and sprinklers last year. Then, having a baby and losing my job put the project on hold. It’s been a tough year and a half looking out at dirt every day, especially with a dog, but I’m happy to say that things are now back on schedule.
The drain system is in, a border has been determined and pavers have been chosen. We still have much to do, but the vision is coming along. I look forward to sharing the full story with you, as well as the “after” photos once it’s all done. In the meantime, here are a couple “before” photos of our started project. I can’t wait to move outdoors this spring!
